Our
leadership training focuses on the development of leaders in Brazil and around
the world. Light to the Nations missions statement is to “Raise leaders that
Plant churches that raise leaders that plant churches …” As such, all our
training is local church based. The first step in this training is a basic
discipleship course offered to our church members called “The Journey”. This
9-month course offers weekly classes that train church members in basic
Christian doctrines and also prepares them to lead small groups. These groups
meet weekly in homes and are designed to encourage and edify those who desire
more than just a weekly church service, and are evangelistic as well!
We believe that these small groups or “cells” are as much an essential part of the church as are the cells of a human body. No cell operates on its own, but rather functions as part of the whole body. Besides this basic leadership training within the local church, we also offer a more formal training through the GAP program here in Rio and through Church Planting Seminars, held in several major cities in Brazil.
Church Planting Seminars
About three years ago we developed a tremendous tool to train pastors. It is
called the Church Planting Seminar. We have held several of these seminars all
across Brazil. Our goal is to hold 4 church planting seminars each year in
different regions of Brazil. These seminars focus on
developing young pastors and also sending pastors with an understanding of why
to plant a church.
Bible School in Three Regional Cities
One of the main needs in Brazil is raising leaders. In fact, Jesus predicted that this would be the critical bottleneck.
Mt 9:38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest.
